25 Highest Grossing Movies Of All-Time - Ranked

23. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

#14 - $1.066 billion After the impressive first instalment, excitement was at an all-time high for Pirates Of The Caribbean sequel Dead Man's Chest. Sadly, reviews were mixed, and despite some fun scenes and a nice surprise at the end (which was ruined somewhat by the fact that it was a cliffhanger), it failed to reach the heights set by its predecessor three years before. To say this movie was a crushing disappointment would be an understatement, and the fact that it so poorly failed to come anywhere close to The Curse Of The Black Pearl left a bad taste in the mouths of moviegoers. Of course, they had already paid to see it by that point. It was only the third movie to earn $1 billion worldwide, and reached that mark in record time (63 days). That may not seem particularly impressive now that several other films have achieved that feat in a matter of weeks, but it was a big deal at the time. Many of its records were quickly broken, making them easily forgotten as a result. That's somewhat ironic, especially as Dead Man's Chest is a rather forgettable movie!
