#12 - $1.104 billion If you hated everything about the first three Transformers movies, chances are that the fourth wouldn't have much luck changing your mind. It suffered from many of the problems that the others did, but a new cast at least freshened things up enough to make it stand out from its predecessors (even if the highly promoted Dinobots ended up being little more than a cameo). Despite what critics say or how much bloggers seem to enjoy ridiculing Michael Bay's love of explosions, he's found a formula which works for the Transformers franchise, and Age Of Extinction didn't struggle to breeze past the $1 billion mark when it was released last year. It was, in fact, the only movie in 2014 to earn $1 billion, easily beating the likes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and X-Men: Days Of Future Past. However, while Age Of Extinction might be the better of the two Transformers movies to find its way into the Top 25, it became clear with this instalment that Michael Bay and the studio had given up on the notion of changing people's minds by finding a way to improve the series. For fans though, this worked. Clearly confident that the franchise will continue to find success, Paramount Pictures has put together an enviable writers team to come up with as many as ten new Transformers films.
