When the first songbird comedy made almost $100m in profit, it was inevitable that the Bellas would return for more warbling and personal growth. When the announcement came, it was particularly welcome.
The sequel will see the group picking up the pieces after an incident involving a full frontal wardrobe malfunction by Fat Amy at the Lincoln Center, the girls are suspended from performing. To regain their status - and honour - they enter an international tournament (a stage on which the US are generally hated), bringing them face to face with new global rivals.
Selling Point
It's exactly the same formula that worked first time out, so there's no reason to think that going slightly bigger and adding new a cappella groups won't make it even better.
Reservations
Over-extension. Glee was great in this market (albeit on the small screen) for a while, but it simply ran out of steam when the glee club bubble burst.
Hopefully, this won't end up just being a series of musical numbers interspersed with Fat Amy gags.
