Release Date: August 19th

Billed As: The latest animation from the makers of Coraline, ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls. That should be enough to get you VERY excited.

Hype: Animation house Laika's previous output has been incredible, and their commitment to the stop-motion medium is as heartening as their stories are beautifully realised.

The latest comes courtesy of the lead animator on their past three films, Travis Knight, and is set in Ancient Japan, following a young boy sucked into a magical quest and an age-old vendetta. The cast is brilliant, the story looks excellent, but as with all Laika films, it's all about the medium and the aesthetic.

With Ice Age, The Secret Life Of Pets, and Finding Dory all coming out aimed at kids this summer, it's a busy marketplace. But Laika has something that none of them can boast, and it's impossible not to be incredibly excited.
