Billed As: The first step in the Universal monsters shared film universe, retelling the story of The Mummy, with Tom Cruise as its charismatic human lead.

Hype: If the MCU and a Transformers shared universe can exist, there's definitely space out there for a Universal Monsters universe too, and launching it off the back of Tom Cruise is a pretty inspired move.

Rather than the swash-buckling tone of the Brendan Fraser franchise, there's very much a sense that this is more purely horror - though still with an adventurous spirit - and having Cruise in that sort of situation, rather than confidently taking out global terrorists without messing his hair, will be a welcome deviation in itself.
