1. Doctor Strange
Release Date: November 4th (earlier in the UK, thankfully).
Billed As: Marvel goes cosmic.
Hype: It's been a long time coming, but now Marvel are plunging head-long into the more supernatural realms of the comics with the introduction of long-term beloved character Strange. Kevin Feige has wanted this change of direction for a long time, and he's had Benedict Cumberbatch in his cross-hairs for a while too.
It's a brave move: so far the MCU has been comparatively grounded (aside from some sci-fi elements), and going full magic represents a major departure. Luckily, Marvel have done the covering work of getting a great cast, hiring a strong director and concentrating on some mind-boggling Inception-like effects, so the transition should be seamless.
The trailers have all been great so far, there's a faint suggestion of a playful tone and Cumberbatch looks like he was made precisely for this role.
