He's the ideal candidate for the central role of a man watching the thin veneer of respectability on the world peel away to reveal the grubby secrets below. So it all really depends on how he takes his own direction.

Domestic terrorism is obviously a pertinent place to build a story now (even though it's a period movie), so it's an intriguing time for this to come out. Let's hope it's as intelligently handled as McGregor tends to do with his performances.
