25 Predictions For Summer 2016's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
16. The Conjuring 2 (65%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "It not quite living up to the terrifying heights of the original, this London-set sequel still makes the best of returning cast members Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, and James Wan's typically sturdy direction." Horror sequels very rarely manage to score as well as what came before, so let's presume it won't get anywhere close to the original's surprisingly high 86%. Still, Wan is a talented director when he's got a good script to work from, and considering that this was written by the same guys who wrote the original, hopefully it'll recapture some of that dread and atmosphere. It'll get knocked for probably being a retread in too many areas, but at the same time, Wilson and Farmiga should be as reliably great as they were the first time around. Not an amazing film, but if a horror movie manages to score above 50%, frankly it's usually pretty decent.
