8. Poltergeist (68%)

Predicted Critical Consensus: "Proof that not all remakes are created equal, Poltergeist re-injects a dose of fear into a classic story thanks to fine acting and an abundance of suspense." Though horror fanboys are extremely averse to remakes and pretty much go in ready to hate them, critics tend to be a little more pragmatic in the rare instance where one actually works. From the trailer released to date, Poltergeist certainly looks like a well-made reprise of the classic original, and while few are expecting an improvement over Tobe Hooper's masterpiece, it'll probably do enough well enough not to be a total sacrilege. Plus, why else would talented actors like Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt sign on for what on paper sounds like a lame retread? It'll struggle to capture the same iconic feel as the original, but it probably won't be as bad as horror fans are fearing either.
