25 Shocking CGI Movie Moments That Left You Speechless
13. Rocket's Close Up - Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3
Just one year removed from one of the worst CGI moments of The Multiverse Saga came one of the best, and like the majority of good things about Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, it revolved around Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper).
James Gunn's MCU threequel was without question Rocket's story, as his history was delved into like never before, while the rest of the characters were almost just there for the ride. There was essentially a duel-narrative throughout the film that jumped between the past and the present, with one transition in particular standing out as incredibly impressive.
The effects to bring Rocket to life have always been stellar, in his Guardians, Avengers, and Thor franchise appearances, but the detail in this shot blew everything else out of the water. One flashback toward the beginning of the film featured an extreme close-up of Rocket as a baby, as he then aged through to the present day in a matter of seconds.
To show a raccoon as old and tired was impressive enough, but this transition that focused on the changing details as he morphed from a baby to an old man gave the effects nowhere to hide, and the end results couldn't have been much better.
