25 Shocking CGI Movie Moments That Left You Speechless
8. The Dinosaur Chase - King Kong
Peter Jackson's 2005 epic King Kong has been mentioned on a couple of occasions on this list so far, and rightly so. The motion capture used to bring King Kong to life was incredible, but unfortunately, that same praise can't be aimed at every aspect of the movie.
As Skull Island was a lost world of sorts, just like in 2017's Kong: Skull Island, there were other creatures to fear than just the big monkey. In 2005, it was dinosaurs, huge sauropods, and smaller, raptor-like beasts that all posed problems for the crew.
The biggest came with a stampede of the huge monsters that resulted in a chase scene of sorts through the twisting and turning tracks of the island. Some of the CGI here, where the characters were weaving in and out of the tree trunk legs, wasn't too bad, but other parts were shocking.
Particularly to say that the work that went into King Kong himself was so stellar, and what Peter Jackson achieved several years earlier in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the obvious green screens that destroyed any realism in the moment were a huge disappointment.
