Although the majority of the shoot took place in London, locations played a key role too - in fact, Interview With The Vampire was the first ever film production to be given permission from the city of San Francisco to close down two lanes of traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Not only that, but the lighting in many streets and buildings in riverfront New Orleans were specifically darkened for the shoot by agreement with the city, the production creating a false front on a partition of an old National Guard post which was torn down immediately after location filming was completed.
