Time and budgets were really strained at times during the shoot, which lead to some pretty unconventional shortcuts being used to save time.

One such example comes from special effects supervisor Richard Edlund, who was under so much pressure to design, storyboard, build and shoot every effect in the movie that he had to instruct his team to take pretty drastic measures when it came to scenes involving Slimer.
