25 WTF Moments From The Mission: Impossible Franchise

23. The Most Boring Font In Cinema History (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol)

Excellent though Ghost Protocol is, it begins with one startling moment, as the movie uses the terribly dull Verdana font to inform audiences of the scene's location. Despite the lavish shot of the city's skyline, it makes the moment feel like something from a terrible PowerPoint presentation at a business meeting, enough that a typographer actually wrote a complaint letter to Brad Bird about it on Twitter, and the director snappily replied, "if you direct a big film on a tight budget & schedule, chances are fonts won't ever be your most pressing problem." Still, given the technical precision in practically every aspect of the production, for nobody to second-guess this crappy looking font is just bizarre.
