3. Tony Scott Originally Wanted To Direct
According to Tarantino himself, director Tony Scott was given the scripts for both Reservoir Dogs and True Romance to read, and Scott subsequently told Tarantino that he wanted to director Reservoir Dogs.
However, Tarantino already had his own designs on the film by that point, and so agreed to have Scott helm True Romance instead.
In yet another fine feat of decision making, it turned out for the best, as True Romance's heightened bombast was decidedly better-suited to Scott's filmmaking sensibilities than the comparative chamber piece that was Reservoir Dogs.
