Talking of deterrents, another slightly less messed-up one comes in the form of the scars left behind after appearing in the human centipede. Boss visits a man who has just finished his prison sentence and so has been "checked out" of the centipede chain, while noting that the scars around his lips will indicate to society that he has been in a prison centipede, a deterrent in of itself. The scene has an unexpectedly comical end when the man shakes hands with Boss and leaves the prison, presumably "rehabilitated" by his time in the centipede. Is this Six mocking Conservative attitudes to prisoners, or his genuine belief that the human centipede would be a successful deterrent? Who knows?
