8. Blofeld Is Bond's Step-Brother (And Has Major Daddy Issues)

It's hinted at early on in the movie that Bond has a big secret after Moneypenny gives him his personal effects recovered from the debris of Skyfall. Among the items are a guardianship paper and a mysterious picture of him as a child with a middle-aged man and another youngster whose face is burned away. Gee, do you think maybe the big bad of this film might be that other kid? If the filmmakers wanted to make it less obvious, couldn't they have burned away more of the other kid's body, because just burning away the face makes it too obvious that his identity will be a plot twist conceit later. And so Blofeld and Bond reminisce, that when Bond's parents died, Oberhauser's father took him in as one of his own, but Franz became jealous of the attention, hence why he resents Bond so much, and mockingly refers to him as his childhood moniker of "Cuckoo!" Yes, it's unfortunately another silly daddy issues motive, something that rarely goes down well and just isn't very convincing at all here. Above all else it just makes Blofeld seem kinda childish and pathetic.
