9. And Yes, He Is Blofeld
The big question on everyone's lips has been whether or not Oberhauser is in fact Ernst Stavro Blofeld as rumours have suggested. Of course, the production have vehemently denied it as they're almost duty-bound to, but of course, the truth is now out: yes, he is Blofeld. Near the end of the film, Oberhauser has Bond beaten down and taken to a room, where he's hooked up to a special torture machine which apparently uses needles to essentially slowly lobotomise someone. He lands a few needles in Bond's face and, amid dumping exposition, informs him that Franz Oberhauser died 20 years ago (when he killed his own father in an "accident"), and his name is now Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Oh, and that iconic white cat shows up too. On one hand, it's great that they got an actor of Waltz's caliber to bring Blofeld back to life, but what a shame that it was done in such underwhelming fashion. This is the Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness nonsense all over again...
