At this point, Summer Glau is pretty much a Queen within the geek community. This is thanks to the many genre roles she has played over the years; she's River Tam in the space western series Firefly and its film sequel Serenity, Cameron in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Tess Doerner in The 4400 and Isabel Rochev on The CW series Arrow. Among other endeavors; she also could have added the role of Kitty Pryde to her resume had her audition been successful. After the initial choice for the role pulled out, Joss Whedon confirmed that Glau was indeed up for the role of Kitty in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, stating that she had spoken to him ahead of her audition to ask about his knowledge of the character. It turned out that the scene they got Glau to read in the audition was a scene that Whedon had written for Astonishing X-Men issue #5. Sadly, this never happened.
