5. Colonel William Stryker - Brian Cox (X-Men 2)
William Stryker is a fascinating villain because of the personal motives that drive his anti-mutant crusade, with his wife brutally killing herself after their mutant son Jason implanted telepathic illusions in their minds.
A master manipulator, Stryker also attempts to have the President killed in order to further spread his agenda across the world, and give him free reign to raid the X-Mansion.
His motives are understandable, he has a determined plan, and he very nearly succeeds, only to have his technology turned against him as Magneto and Mystique attempt to use it to eradicate humankind.
Plus, Brian Cox gives one of the best performances from any comic book movie, hero or villain, one that's never quite been matched by other, younger portrayals of the character.
