Topher Grace was a peculiar casting choice for Eddie Brock, the movie insisted on peeling Venom's monstrous face back far too much to show the human underneath, and he shows up way too late in the movie, but seeing Venom and Spidey brawl in the film's climactic set-piece was nevertheless a dream come true for many comic book fans.

When Sam Raimi takes Grace out of the equation and focuses on the CGI monster everyone paid their ticket money to see, Venom absolutely delivers. It's just a shame it wasn't for longer.
