30 Horror Movie Survivors Who Probably Wished They'd Died
3. Rosemary's Baby - Rosemary Woodhouse
To say that Rosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow) endured absolute hell would be a profound understatement.
To recap, she went through a tormented pregnancy filled with pain and angst, with her becoming convinced that her neighbours and doctor had sinister intentions for her baby. She tried to flee and spoke to another doctor, but, assuming she was mentally ill, he handed her right back to them.
And then, once Rosemary finally gave birth, she was informed that the baby was stillborn and then... she discovered that not just was the baby alive, but that she'd given birth to the Antichrist. All along, her suspicions about her neighbours were absolutely correct; they were all part of a coven, and her own husband (John Cassavetes) was in on it the whole time. He sold out his wife in exchange for the coven granting him a successful acting career, and allowed a demon to forcibly impregnate her.
By the end, Rosemary has been used, sexually assaulted and subjected to unimaginable psychological torture and, alongside the birth of the literal Antichrist, Rosemary's suffering makes this one of the darkest horror movie endings of all time.
