Who's Involved: Bill Pullman will be reprising his role as former President Thomas J. Whitmore and Jeff Goldblum will apparently also be back as David Levinson. Will Smith is too expensive, sadly, but director Roland Emmerich is back for the sequel, as is the original's screenwriter Dean Devlin. Liam Hemsworth is reportedly also being heavily considered for a part. What's It About: The aliens from the first movie are back for more, and wormholes play a part in the plot. Beyond that, nothing else is known. Why We Should Care: Because 1996's alien invasion extravaganza is a classic slice of Hollywood cheese, aware of its own corniness and riding it all the way to the bank on the back of fun performances and a ton of CGI-assisted mayhem. Hopefully this sequel will simply be more of the same, updated for a modern context. When's It Due: June 24, 2016, but if it doesn't start shooting by May, it'll be getting pushed back.
