Patricia Arquette won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2015 for her fantastic performance in Boyhood, and took the opportunity as so many do to use her time on stage to foreground an important social issue.

Arquette drew further attention to the troubling wage gap between men and women in the U.S., telling the audience, "To every woman who gave birth to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America."

Arquette's remarks quickly went viral, even if paying women the same as their equally-billed male co-stars is still proving a tough sell four years later, to say nothing of "regular" jobs.
