BOX OFFICE: 300 cut down by half but they are still strong

Even though 300 lost half it's audience in the second week of release, the movie still totally dominates the weekend box office, taking over $10 million more than it's nearest rival Wild Hogs.

The movie has been released ten days now and has a total of $127.5 million and in the next few days it should surpass the big budget, big named cast 2004 flick Troy which made $133.4 million before leaving theatres. The big new release of the weekend was the Sandra Bullock horror movie Premonition which got hammered by the critics but still took in $18 million, only $2 million short of the film's whole budget. Bullock continues to be one of the few leading ladies in Hollywood who consistently delivers a return. The other horror movie released this week was Dead Silence, from the creators of Saw. That movie took in a quiet $7.7 million, less than half of Saw's opening weekend back in 2004.
