31 Horror Movies To Watch This October
30. Host
No horror film released this year is quite as urgent and relatable as Host, which unfolds entirely on a Zoom call during lockdown, as six friends partaking in a seance get more than they bargained for.
At just 56 minutes in length, Host wastes not a second of its screen time on preambles, and having been assembled entirely in lockdown, is an extremely impressive testament to what can be achieved within strict limitations.
Well acted while making smart, expectation-defying use of its central technology, Host may not reinvent the genre wheel, but it's a damn fine stab at revisiting a familiar premise in a fresh way.
Host is out now on Shudder.
