31 Scariest Movie Moments Of All Time
30. They Know The Kids! - Eden Lake
Eden Lake is probably one of the least appreciated horror movies ever made, despite having the brilliant Michael Fassbender and the always incredibly intense Jack O'Connell in it. The film's simple premise - that young people are awful and should be avoided at all costs - plays out in a romantic camping trip gone wrong when the central couple piss off the wrong tear-aways.
What follows is a portrait of torture and vengeance to rival I Spit On Your Grave for gore, that eats away at you and feels like pulled finger nails, and then just as you think it's over and you're free, the ending is the most horrific part. Jenny escapes the forest and is welcomed into a house by seemingly normal people. It's only when it's revealed that they're actually the parents of all the kids she's just been tortured by and killed who will do anything to protect their own that the true horror of the scene is realised.
Out of the frying pan, into the fire.
