Despite being about ghosts, The sixth Sense isn't actually all that scary: it's not so much a horror movie as a drama that has ghosts in alongside some intense constipation face acting from Bruce Willis who always looks like he's struggling to work out what that smell is. But it does have its moments.

The slow-burn sequences of Haley Joel Osment discovering ghosts in his own house are contenders, but the winner hands down is when little Cole is locked in a cupboard with an angry ghost by a pair of bullies and is promptly terrified unconscious. You can see it coming a mile off, which makes it worse, and crucially it gives some context to why Cole is so terrified of the ghosts who come to him for help.

His fear is tangible, and it's a scene that perfectly channels that unnerving suspicion everyone has of mysterious little doors and what lies behind them.
