When Alan tries to call Ellie on the sat phone at the end of the film, her young son Charlie picks it up, resulting in an awkward, stifled conversation where little is achieved, and he ultimately becomes distracted by an episode of Barney and Friends on the TV. He still manages to eventually get the phone to his mother, who figures out Alan's predicament, but most viewers are at this point probably still distracted that Barney the freaking dinosaur made it into a Jurassic Park movie.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
