At the end of the first movie, as Alan and co. set off to take down the two remaining Raptors, Alan asks Ellie if the third is contained, and she replies, "Yes, unless they figure out how to open doors." At that exact point, cut to a Raptor stalking Tim and Lex as it uses its claw to open the door, ramming its head against it while it opens and learning that this will grant it access to the kitchen. This is one of the most controversial scenes in the movie because it raises the ever-crucial question: could a Raptor really open a door? Opinion varies, though it seems agreed-upon that this is certainly stretching credibility for the film, a device employed to sustain the tension above all else. Even so, it never ceases to be a distinctly weird, even out-of-place moment.
