One of the stranger and more unexpected moments of the show came when Vice President Joe Biden emerged on the stage to talk about rape and sexual assault on college campuses, while begging the audience to join him in a pledge to "change the culture". This is all before Biden then introduces Lady Gaga's musical performance of The Hunting Ground's song, Til It Happens To You, where Gaga performs the song while surrounded by victims of sexual assault.
6. Quincy Jones Calls Pharrell "Wardell"
Quincy Jones and Pharrell Williams hit the stage to present the Oscar for Best Original Score, and after telling an anecdote about his prior work with Steven Spielberg, Jones says to Williams, "You know what I mean, Wardell?" Cue an awkward pause before Pharrell takes over to read out the nominees. Hilarious.
