David Warner played three roles in Star Trek. First, he appeared in Star Trek V, playing the Terran Ambassador to Nimbus III, St. John Talbot. Next, he was the Klingon Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI. Lastly, and perhaps most memorably, he was the sadistic Gul Madred, the Cardassian charged with torturing Captain Picard in Chain Of Command.

Warner had a long and varied career in film, stage, and television. His early work was with the Royal Shakespeare Company, which of course would also be a launchpad for Patrick Stewart. He appeared in dozens of stage productions, as well as audio and film variations of Shakespeare's works. He would also oscillate between playing sympathetic, and villainous roles. He appeared in several horror movies, including the The Omen.

He had a long history with Doctor Who as well, and his work with the franchise will be discussed in more detail in WhoCulture's list on this same topic. Suffice it to say here that David Warner was an iconic actor who left an enormous body of work behind him. His voice was instantly recognisable, and his presence was second to none.

He was diagnosed with cancer 18 months before his death, which he chose to keep from the public. He passed away at the age of 80.
