Andrew Prine may best be described as a career actor, having begun work in film and television in the '50s, and working more or less steadily up into the 2000s. He began his career in theatre, before moving over to the small screen. He appeared in many of the well-known shows of the 60s, including Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and Wagon Train.

He was caught up in a murder investigation in the early '60s when Karyn Kupcinet was found strangled in her home. She had complained to police that she had been receiving threatening letters when she was in a relationship with Prine, though these were later found to have been sent by Kupcinet herself. Though initially a suspect, Prine was cleared of any suspicion. Kupcinet's father later released a memoir that detailed the family believed Prine was completely innocent as well.

He would appear in two episodes of Star Trek. First, he appeared in the Next Generation episode Frame Of Mind, where he played Suna. He would then appear in Deep Space Nine, in the episode Life Support, as the Cardassian Legate Turrel.

Prine died of natural causes at age 86.
