35 Star Trek Actors Who Died In 2022

30. Ralph Maurer

Star Trek Ralph Maurer
CBS

Ralph Maurer appeared twice in The Original Series, first as Bilar in The Return Of The Archons, and then later as an Ekosian SS Guard in Patterns Of Force. Maurer would actually change his name to Lev Mailer, by which he would go for the rest of his life.

Mailer was, by his own admission, something of a problem child when he was growing up in Brooklyn, New York. He managed to avoid any serious repercussions, with the fallout from his bad behaviour being primarily low grades in school. He was introduced to acting early, before landing his first roles on Star Trek and The Lucy Show.

He retired from traditional acting and moved into voice work for several years, before stepping away altogether in the early '00s, at which time he moved to teaching. He died at age 88, a month after being hospitalised for a bacterial infection.
