Kirk Bailey played Magnus Hanson, Seven of Nine's birth father, in the episode Dark Frontier. However, he would probably be best known to fans as camp counsellor Kevin 'Ug' Lee from Salute Your Shorts, a Nickelodeon sitcom that ran in the early '90s. He remained close with his co-stars from this show over the years, even standing as one of the groomsmen for his castmate Danny Cooksey in 1998.

He was cited as one of the most daring and ridiculous members of the cast, often pulling pranks to make people laugh. He was also first through the breach in so many scenes, though one such event left him permanently deaf in one ear. In 1991, he dived into Franklin Canyon Lake and ruptured his left ear drum.

Bailey was only 59 when he died. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer barely six months earlier. He was survived by his partner and two children.
