Even though Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu won the Best Director award earlier in the night, it was still widely expected that Spotlight would win the Best Picture - Drama award. In a shock, The Revenant ended up scooping Best Picture away from it, and though this will likely do little to derail Spotlight's inevitable Best Picture Oscar win, it's still an interesting consolation prize for The Revenant, which walked away with three wins, the most awards of any movie (the third award being Leonardo DiCaprio's well-deserved Best Actor win).
