4 Obstacles the Justice League Screenwriters Face

1. Aquaman & Wonder Woman

If the Justice League comes out before the solo films, as many have speculated, then they need to make two things happen with two major players: Make Aquaman awesome Make Wonder Woman marketable There are a handful of writers and directors willing to take on a Wonder Woman film (Whedon probably being the most vocal), and the issue is not how they would make a good movie, but how they would get people to come see it. Warner Brothers has an ace up their sleeve with Diana (until Marvel decides to play their hand with Ms. Marvel), and they'd be foolish not to play it; but I understand that it's a one-shot deal and they need to make the best bang for their buck with it. Luckily, with the success of the female-led Hunger Games franchise, it could be very likely that Wonder Woman's debut could come sooner than later. But using Justice League could be that step to seeing how interested audiences are in her, so that's something that should take priority. Aquaman's role also needs to prove him worthy of his own film. But an Aquaman film comes with it's own issues, like the creation of Atlantis and, as one of my friends on another site pointed out, the fact that it would be interesting to see just how they would talk to each other underwater. As far as superheroes go, Aquaman's public persona isn't a great one to have to work with, so Justice League should be a good PR move for Mr. Curry.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
