4. Polymorph (Red Dwarf)
Red Dwarf was (and to an extent still is) one of my favourite shows of all time. Starting in the late 80s it was a claustrophobic, space based, character driven show, which helped pave the way for non-mainstream British comedy. Recently resurrected by DAVE it definitely lost its charm, but after speaking to one of its stars last year, Im hopeful that the new series will return to its roots and delight once more. Polymorphs first showed up a few series in, and are shape-shifting creatures that feed off emotions. Genetically created creatures designed to be perfect warriors, they steal particular negative emotions from their victims, drastically changing their personalities (the cat changing into Dwayne Dibley being a firm fan favourite). Doesnt sound like much of a pet right?? Well, there are variants of Polymorphs that have been domesticatedalso known as emohawks. Raised by a race of creatures called Kinitawowi, emohawks are spayed at birth and trained to carry out the nefarious wishes of its owner. I cant help but feel Id be dicing with death having one of these around, however. While they appear loyal to their owners there have been instances where they have been known to turn on them, and I shudder at the thought of what Id become if it managed to get its creepy sucker tongue latched onto me!
