40 Movies That Will Kick-Ass In 2018

18. Halloween

There are probably lots of reasons to completely disregard all new Halloween movies as inevitably disappointing (for a start, just look at pretty much every single sequel), but 2018's Halloween should be different.

For the occasion of the franchise's tenth release, John Carpenter is back on-board as an executive producer and he has vowed to make it the scariest one yet, which is good news for genre fans. Directing duties will fall to David Gordon Green, who has fallen off the radar a little since he made Pineapple Express, Your Highness and The Sitter (though Prince Avalanche with Paul Rudd deserves SO much more praise), and he's also co-writing with Danny McBride, which is an interesting aside.

There's definitely still enough in Michael Myers' tank to get a good few scares out of it, and the fact that it's being planned as a direct sequel to Halloween II is a great move too.
