David Duchovny and Kevin Smith have never worked together, but it's easy to tell that Smith is a fan of Californication's headliner. Smith loved The X Files so much that he named his two dogs Mulder and Scully after the two detectives from the famed television series. David Duchovny and Kevin Smith seem like a perfect fit, of course. Duchovny shies away from more commercial material and frequently chooses more oddly plotted and smaller budgeted films to star in like recent outings The Joneses, Goats and Phantom. Tusk would be right up this actor's alley. He would also seem to be a good fit to portray a cop chasing an anything but normal criminal in Kevin Smith's movie. After all, Smith knows and loves the man as Mulder; a cop that chased a whole bunch of anything but normal criminals for years on people's television sets. Duchovny seems like a good fit for the part and he's someone who would be an obvious choice for Smith to seek out.
