5. Adam Sandler
Im not going to pretend to be some big Adam Sandler fan, because Im anything but. Ive never found the guy to be particularly funny, and its obvious that he doesnt care much about making great cinema. With that being said, he absolutely has the ability to. There are two films in particular, Paul Thomas Andersons Punch Drunk Love, and Judd Apatows Funny People, in which Sandler turns in fantastic performances. Knowing that, seeing him make gross-out, terrible comedies is extremely frustrating, because some big talent is being wasted. Unfortunately, the dude makes a lot of money, and hes never going to stop putting out those despicable films. If he does ever decides to make one more awesome movie, though, it should be with Mr. Anderson. His collaboration with PTA was more of a drama than anything, while Funny People was smart, but straight forward comedy. A pairing with Wes could be a nice balance of drama and humor, as most of Wes films are, and itd be interesting to see how Adam would handle the quirky dialogue.
