(She returned again to sing Moonraker, but I€™m sure everyone would prefer to forget about that.) This song really sets the standard for sensual 007 anthems. Holy s**t, this song oozes sex. Kanye West€™s 2005 Diamond€™s From Sierra Leone, which sampled this anthem, missed out on some seriously good stuff. Bassey sings as a spurned lover. The idea is diamonds are forever, but men all leave. We can only assume she€™s singing about Bond, and if she ever gets her hands on him she€™ll be his demise. This song gets everything right. Element of Danger: +3 There€™s nothing really specific about being a spy in this tune. It could be just about any man who made the serious and grave mistake of walking out on Shirley Bassey. The Ladies: +10 This breaks the needle. Just listen to the first verse of the song. Cool Factor: +9 The instrumentation, her voice, everything sounds exactly like it should for our sexy spy on Her Majesty€™s Secret Service. Why didn€™t it rank higher? Shirley Bassey set the tone for sexy, dangerous women of Bond music, so much so that no artist dared to go back to that well until€
