5 Awesome Movie Dads And 5 That Suck

4. Chris Garder in The Pursuit of Happyness Will Smith plays Chris Gardner in The Pursuit of Happyness, a 2006 adaption of Gardner€™s autobiography. A beautiful extra dimension in this film lies in the fact that Jaden Smith plays Will€™s on screen son and makes a brilliant acting debut. In the film Chris€™s wife loses patience with her ambitious husband who fails to provide for the family and gets himself an unpaid internship at a brokerage firm. Wouldn€™t be so bad if he was a graduate but he has a wife and child to support. As a result the wife leaves him and his son. This is where Chris as super-father kicks in. He develops a steely determination where failure is not an option. There isn€™t a moment where he kicks up a fuss about having to take care of his son on his own, he ploughs through one problem after another and throughout Christopher Jr. feeds off of his dad€™s strength and determination even when they get evicted from their motel room and end up in a homeless shelter. Within the shelter we encounter one of the best €œaw dad€ moments: Chris tucks his little boy in and says goodnight, maintaining a normal loving bed time ritual despite the hurdles that lie ahead of them. When success does finally happen for our protagonist it€™s clear that it€™s not just his ambitious nature that€™s led him to, it€™s the love he has for his son. Love ya too dad.
