4. Madame Mirage
Although she's an interesting character, what would make a Madame Mirage movie really intriguing is the universe in which she resides. A Top Cow Productions title, the story of Madame Mirage takes place in a universe in which superheroes are man-made creations. Advanced technology and bio-engineering turned people into metahumans and turned existing metahumans into gods. But this, inevitably, also created villains. Eventually, as people began to take advantage of this advanced technology and use it for personal gain, the technology was banned. Superheroes became outlaws as a consequence and people who were outlaws before their existence went underground. A Los Angeles-based agency called A.S.I. (Aggressive Solutions Int.) emerges, posing as a public relations/troubleshooting organisation, but in reality it is a front for a gang of powerful villains. This prompts Madame Mirage in to action. She possesses a plethora of superpowers that include mind control, magic and shape-shifting and embarks on a mission to take A.S.I. down - though the reasons for this remain unclear until a startling revelation comes to light (it's too much of a plot twist to just bark out, but it would make for one hell of a movie - feel free to look it up online if you don't care about reading spoilers). There aren't enough comic book movies with females in the lead role and most of those that do exist have failed miserably (Supergirl, Barb Wire, Elektra, Catwoman etc), so it's about time a genuinely interesting superheroine movie came to fruition.
