5. The Fathom Five

Led by Llyron, the son of Namor's enemy Llyra and rumoured to be fathered by Namor himself, the Fathom Five are a team of fictional sea-dwelling terrorists partially composed of previously existing characters. Its members also include Dragonrider, Bloodtide, Manowar and Sea Leopard. Llyron has superhuman physical statistics and energy blasts, Dragonrider can mystically control sea creatures, Bloodtide has control over water, Manowar has a number of super-strong tentacles and the ability to produce electric shocks and Sea Leopard has telepathic abilities. As a result, they pose a multi-layered threat with their versatile collective power-set. The group sought to wipe out humanity and subsequently clashed with the Sub-Mariner who wouldn't allow that to happen. It would make a refreshing change for a character to be introduced and immediately have to fight a villainous group, rather than a villainous individual, and this group are undoubtedly interesting enough to be worthwhile.
