5 Bad Movies With Great Taglines

3. The Happening (2008)

The Happening What on earth happened to M. Night Shyamalan? He used to make excellent horror-tinged thrillers, whether it be The Sixth Sense which made his name (ultimately for the worse) as €œthe twist ending director,€ Unbreakable which many hold as his masterpiece and even Signs which, despite its silly ending, remains a understated and underrated film. However, from there his career seemed to go down the cinematic toilet and The Happening is arguably the crowing glory of that. Preposterous, misguided and often unintentionally hilarious (it contains a scene where Mark Wahlberg talks to a plant), it€™s a film that put many off the once-good Shyamalan name for good. The tagline:€œWe€™ve Sensed It. We€™ve Seen the Signs. Now€ It€™s Happening€ Whoever came up with that tagline had their thinking cap on. The use of the title after the pause immediately makes you wonder what exactly it is that€™s happening €“ turns out not much! The tagline skilfully refers back to a couple of Shyamalan€™s former glories while working it in to the plot of the movie. And it even works as a tagline on its own even if you didn€™t know of those previous movies it€™s hinting at.
