5 Best & 5 Worst Comic Book Movie Reboots

7. BEST - X-Men: First Class

Xmen First Class

By the time Matthew Vaughn brought the X-Men back to the big screen as a team, Fox's mutant franchise had lost its way somewhat. Bryan Singer's departure from X-Men: The Last Stand had taken the film's focus with it and the attempt to launch the Origins movie series with Wolverine was well-intentioned but horribly executed.

Luckily for X-Men fans, Vaughn's vision meant going into the past to explore the origins of the team with closer ties to the historical moment of civil unrest that inspired much of their comic book storytelling. It also helped that he assembled an incredible cast, with rising stars Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult all hired JUST before they basically became too big for this sort of gig.

It's a nostalgic superhero movie done incredibly well with great character relationships, strong performances and a great script, which positioned it as much as a prequel as it was a reboot. And that would become very important when Days Of Future Past came along, of course...
