5 Brutal Reviews That Will Actually Make You Want To Watch The Film

5. Roger Ebert "Hated Hated Hated Hated" North

King of popular film criticism Roger Ebert's 4-star method of ranking is a tried, tested, and much-imitated way of scoring films. Of the thousands upon thousands of films he reviewed for The Chicago Sun-Times, only around 65 or so ever had the ignominious pleasure of receiving Ebert's feared Zero Stars rating. Most famous of all is this, his review of Rob Reiner's 1994 film, North. An admitted fan of Reiner's, Ebert was doubly shocked that a film he called one of the worst ever made could be created by a man he admired, and stated that Reiner would probably get over it before he did. Best Quote: "I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated hated this movie. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it." Reason It Makes You Want To Watch It: The quote above, in which Ebert uses the word 'hate' ten times, can only be made about a film so bad you have to see it to believe it. And besides, one man's trash is another man's treasure (or something), so you might even end up love love loving it.
