While he may have already made his leap to the big screen back in 2005 thanks to Keanu Reeves, the true version of the Alan Moore-created occult anti-hero has yet to be seen by mainstream American audiences. A chain-smoking, foul-mouthed misanthrope, John Constantine is a magic detective-for-hire in the DCU, and has most recently been seen headlining the New 52's "Justice League Dark", which sounds like the basic concept of del Toro's
Heaven Sent idea. Self-absorbed but not without heart, John Constantine is the perfect character to bring all the forces together to battle whatever evil is approaching. While he can be crude and abrasive, he's always looking out for the best intentions of humankind, even if he just says he's saving his own skin. He has that snarky likability that helped del Toro's take on Wesley Snipes' Blade become far more enjoyable to watch. If Michael Fassbender doesn't nab this role, I'll be flabbergasted.
