5 Classic DC Comics Stories That Should Be Adapted As Animated Films

2. The Sinestro Corps War

Sinestrocorps When Geoff Johns took over Green Lantern in 2004, the series was in desperate need of revitalization. Hal Jordan had turned evil and destroyed the Green Lantern Corps, and Kyle Rayner was left as the sole Green Lantern. Starting with Green Lantern: Rebirth, Johns not only brought Jordan back to life in a satisfying and original way, but brought back the entire Green Lantern Corps. The universe was again under the protection of the agents of willpower. However, their newest challenge was soon to come from a renegade Green Lantern: Sinestro. While Green Lantern's harnessed the power of will, Sinestro used the power of fear. After he was discharged from the Corps for ruling his sector with an iron fist, Sinestro created his own yellow ring and did battle with Hal Jordan and other Lanterns on multiple occasions. With this storyline, Sinestro expanded his reach and recruited individuals from across the universe to join his own corps of fear-mongers: the Sinestro Corps. Capturing Kyle Rayner and forcing Parallax, the embodiment of fear, into him, Sinestro declared war on the Green Lantern Corps and started a conflict that would change the universe forever. After the failure of the 2011 film, it's doubtful we'll ever get a franchise of theatrical Green Lantern films outside of a possible appearance in a Justice League film. So, since live-action is out of the picture, why not go animated? DC has already released Green Lantern: First Flight and Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, and those were fairly successful. The Sinestro Corps War could be the perfect launching point for a series of Green Lantern animated films that could adapt the Geoff Johns storylines. Because we dont want the viewer to be overloaded by comics continuity, some story aspects would have to be altered, such as ignoring Hal Jordan's death and resurrection, and only giving a brief synopsis for why there are four Earth Lanterns when usually there are only two Lanterns per planet. But guys, here's the best part: Nathan Fillion could come back to voice Hal Jordan. Who doesn't want that?!?!
